southwest coast, is based around a

multicoloured bougainvilleas. Puerto
Mogan is also known as Little Venice,
thanks its central canal and water
channels crossed by small footbridges

beach on the island, where an impressive
6 kilometres of golden sand stretches
along the coastline, Maspalomas is
simply a beach lover's paradise. Backed
by the legendary sand dunes, some of
which reach almost 50 metres in height,
this low rise resort is popular with
families and sun worshippers alike. Its
600 acres of sweeping wind-sculptured
dunes are now a protected sanctuary and
are home to native wildlife as well as a
variety of rare flora. The beach, with
shallow turquoise waters, offers safe
