All wedding
ceremonies will be conducted in
English and all paperwork including
the Marriage certificate, which is
fully recognised in the United
Kingdom, will also be issued to the
happy couple in English.
Two witnesses will be required in
accordance with the law in Cyprus,
however, if you do not have your own
witnesses we will be only too
pleased to provide you with them.
We recommend that you are in Cyprus
a minimum of
3 working
days
before the wedding can take place so
that you can fill in all of the
necessary paperwork in resort
therefore that gives you maximum
flexibility in the duration that you
wish to stay in Cyprus.
You will be required to take the
following
ORIGINAL
DOCUMENTS
(photocopies are not accepted) with
you to Cyprus:
• Passports
Both the Bride and Groom must be in
possession of a 10 year British
passport which must be valid for a
further 3 months after there returns
date to the UK.
• Full Birth Certificate
An original full length birth
certificate must be take by the
Bride and Groom
• Under 18 years of age
A written consent from the parents /
guardians must be supplied
• Deed Poll Certificate
A deed poll certificate must be
obtained if either the Bride or
Groom has changed his / her name for
any reason (including personal
reasons, remarriage of a parent or
is the Bride reverted to her maiden
name after divorcing). This Document
must be stamped and signed by a UK
solicitor and must include the
solicitor’s practice name and
address plus the full name of the
solicitor who witnessed the change
of name
• Decree Absolute
An original Decree Absolute,
carrying a court coloured stamp,
must be obtained if either the Bride
or Groom has been previously married
and is now divorced
• Affidavit
An affidavit is required for all UK
passport holders (one for the Bride
and one for the Groom) and this must
be obtained from a UK solicitor.
This is a sworn document stating
that the person is free to marry.
• Death Certificate
A death certificate must be obtained
if either the Bride or Groom is
widowed
• Anglican Church Weddings
For all Anglican Church weddings,
the Bride and or Groom must take a
copy of his / hers baptism /
christening certificate as well as
the name and address of there local
parish priest. These documents must
be given to the Anglican priest in
Cyprus.
• Catholic Church Weddings
For all Catholic Church weddings
couples must go to there local
parish priest in the UK, from there
the parish priest will start a
pre-nuptial enquiry then forward the
clients baptism certificates to the
bishop who will then in turn forward
them to there contact in Nicosia,
CYPRUS.
Catholic wedding couples should also
have a civil ceremony in the town
hall before having the Catholic
Church wedding.
The town hall civil licence date and
time can be pre-booked for the
wedding couple when Whitehall
Leisure have the date and time for
the Catholic Church wedding.
